Child Month Message

MESSAGE FROM THE RT. REV. HOWARD K. GREGORY, STD, DD

BISHOP OF JAMAICA AND THE CAYMAN ISLANDS

My dear Young People:

I send you warm Christian greetings as you celebrate Children’s Sunday today, May 4, under the Theme “Yes!! I am special!!”

In many families, each child becomes the focus of attention on the occasion of the annual celebration of his or her birthday. It is often a time when gifts are received, there is the birthday cake, or it may just be the singing of the birthday song for the individual. As a Church, we are unable to do this for every child, and so we have decided to set aside one Sunday each year when we pay special attention to our children, and focus attention on matters that relate to their care, support, and growth as individual and as members of the Church and children of God. Today being observed as Children’s Sunday is, therefore, your special day.

Your Theme for this year is very appropriate, and as Christians, your main focus should be that you are special in God’s sight and nothing or anyone can take that away.

By the Sacrament of Baptism, God unites us with Christ, adopts us as His children and makes us members of Christ’s Body, the Church, and inheritors of the Kingdom of God.

I greet you all. I celebrate this special day with you and send you my warm greetings and God’s richest blessings.

Sincerely yours in Christ
