\"Jamaica\u2019s-former-Chief-Justice-Lensley-Wolfe\"<\/a>\u00a0The Hon. Mr. Justice Lensley Wolfe, has resigned as Chancellor of the Diocese, effective April 24, 2014, after having served for 18 years.<\/p>\n

Mr. Justice Wolfe\u2019s resignation was announced by Bishop of Jamaica & The Cayman Islands, the Rt. Rev. Howard Gregory, at the recent Synod of the Church, held at the Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort and Spa in Ocho Rios.<\/p>\n

Mr. Peter\u00a0 DePass, Attorney-at-Law and member of St. Luke\u2019s Church, Cross Roads, has been appointed as Acting Chancellor.<\/p>\n

Bishop Gregory paid tribute at the Synod to Mr. Justice Wolfe for the quality of his advice to the three Diocesan Bishops he served. He noted that: \u201cHe has been of tremendous support to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the clergy and laity, respectively, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert Thompson, Suffragan Bishop of Kingston and the Hon. Michael Fennell, Chairman of the Diocesan Financial Board, commended Justice Wolfe on his contribution to the Diocese.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cHe has been a friend and a mentor to me; and he has been exemplary. He is a committed Christian with a love for the church and a passion for justice; and this has impacted his work,\u201d Bishop Thompson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are a hard act to follow,\u201d Mr. Fennell stated as he commented on the outspoken and fearless manner in which the former Chancellor ensured that the Diocese complied with the legal provisions in the Canons of the Church.<\/p>\n

In his response, Mr. Justice Wolfe referred to his life-long relationship with the Anglican Church, dating back to his boyhood as a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Jago de la Vega, SpanishTown, where he still worships. \u201cThe Church is responsible for everything that I have achieved. It\u2019s been a tremendous experience being Chancellor,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Justice Wolfe has also served as Chairman of the St. Jago High School Board of Governors; Chairman of the Canons Committee; Chairman of Farquharson House Management Committee; Chairman of the Advisory Board regarding the Marriage of Divorced Persons; and Diocesan Lay Reader.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
