Rev. Howard Gregory, Bishop of Jamaica and the<br \/>\nCayman Islands, to visit Jamaica and to make recommendations on<br \/>\nvarious challenges facing the Anglican Church here.<br \/>\nI asked that a number of meetings be arranged so I could hear the concerns<br \/>\nand thoughts of as many clergy and laity as possible. Over a period of five<br \/>\ndays I was present at:<br \/>\n\udbc0\udc99 two joint meetings of the Diocesan Council and the Diocesan<br \/>\nFinancial Board;<br \/>\n\udbc0\udc99 three regional meetings of clergy and laity in Kingston, Montego<br \/>\nBay, and Santa Cruz, each followed by a meeting with the clergy;<br \/>\nand<br \/>\n\udbc0\udc99 meetings with representatives of four cures, one in the Montego<br \/>\nBay Region, one in the Mandeville Region, and two in the Kingston<br \/>\nRegion.<br \/>\nIn addition, I had meetings and conversations with Bishop Gregory, the Rt.<br \/>\nRev. Robert Thompson, Suffragan Bishop of Kingston, the Rt. Rev. Leon<br \/>\nGolding, Suffragan Bishop of Montego Bay, the Rev. Canon Denzil Barnes,<br \/>\nDiocesan Secretary, and Mr. Michael Fennell, Chair of the Diocesan<br \/>\nFinancial Board.<br \/>\nBefore continuing, I want to express my sincere appreciation to the Bishops,<br \/>\nCanon Barnes and Mr. Fennell for their indefatigable labors in making<br \/>\nsure I arrived at each of these engagements, and for their time and<br \/>\nkindnesses. And I am most grateful to the many clergy and laity who attended<br \/>\nall the meetings held during the week, some attending more than one. I<br \/>\nhave encountered only warmth and hospitality. Everyone has been open,<br \/>\nresponsive, and obviously dedicated to the Anglican Church and its<br \/>\nmission. I found a deep love of God and His Son and a passionate devotion<br \/>\nto the mission the Christ has entrusted to the members of His Risen Body<br \/>\nthe Church.
