January 6, the Feast of the Epiphany, is a special day, referred to as Bishop\u2019s Day. Each year, members of the Women\u2019s Auxiliary (WA) \u2013 a major Diocesan Organisation \u2013 gather for worship led by the Diocesan Bishop, in one of the three regions \u2013 Kingston, Mandeville or Montego Bay. Bishop\u2019s Day 2022 will be held at St. Luke\u2019s Church in Cross Roads, Kingston. The Celebration will start with the colourful procession of banners for the various branches across the Diocese, followed by Sung Eucharist and Sermon at 9.00 am.
The Service will be followed by the Business Session at which the Bishop will report on the use of the funding support received from the Organisation in 2021; and then members will present their gifts for the new year to the Bishop.
The Anglican Women\u2019s Auxiliary (WA) was established in Jamaica in 1940.
From its small beginning, the Organization has grown to include more than 35 branches islandwide; and it plays a pivotal role in the life of the Diocese, guided by its principles of Worship, Work and Witness.
One of its main objectives is to raise funds for the Diocesan Pastoral Aid Fund which is administered by the Diocesan Bishop to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Assist Cures that face challenges in terms of their financial viability;
Augment the pensions of retired members of the Clergy and other Church workers, as well as assist with emergency health and other needs which may arise;
Assist in any other circumstances as is deemed necessary by the Bishop
The Women\u2019s Auxiliary also provides financial assistance to the Education and Youth Department, as well as Anglican Basic and Primary Schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
