{"id":23870,"date":"2020-12-19T07:35:00","date_gmt":"2020-12-19T12:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.anglicandioceseja.org\/?p=23870"},"modified":"2020-12-20T07:40:04","modified_gmt":"2020-12-20T12:40:04","slug":"will-your-anchor-hold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicandioceseja.org\/copy\/will-your-anchor-hold\/","title":{"rendered":"Will your anchor hold?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Saturday in the Third Week of Advent, Year B<br>19 December 2020<br><strong>Will your anchor hold?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hymn:<\/strong>Will your anchor hold (CPWI #564)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><strong>Verse 1:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Will your anchor hold in the storms of life<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;when the clouds unfold their wings of strife?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;will your anchor drift, or firm remain?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Refrain:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We have an anchor that keeps the soul<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; steadfast and sure while the billows roll;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; fastened to the Rock which cannot move,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; grounded firm and deep in the Saviour\u2019s love&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection: The anchor in the life of the believer is the Word of God. In life we will encounter many storms, how do we respond to these storms? Do we complain or do we ride them out clinging to the security and stability of the Word of God. Sometimes we create our own storms, sometimes God uses these storms to get our attention. To change a behaviour, to let something go, or simply to teach us a lesson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christ is our anchor. So apt in a time where the storms seem to be billowing and life is tossing us around and about. This global pandemic has changed the world as we know it. It\u2019s as if the Corona Virus has taken over the world and we have no control. But as the clouds unfold their wings of strife, and the strong tides lift, we know who remains in control. He is our anchor. Romans 8 reminds us, \u201cWe know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.\u201d As breakers roar and the reef draws near, not one Word of God will fail. This promise is true; troubles will not last. All things work together for the good.<br>The time will come when He welcomes us to the Paradise He has prepared for us. We will die in the flesh and live forever in the spirit and our storms will end forever. So whether on earth or in heaven, our anchor holds.<br>Meditation: Our anchor WILL hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prayer: Thank You Lord, that You are our anchor and that we can hold fast to You in times of trouble, knowing that whatever our challenges, You will carry us through.
