{"id":18656,"date":"2019-12-18T20:02:44","date_gmt":"2019-12-19T01:02:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.anglicandioceseja.org\/?p=18656"},"modified":"2019-12-19T20:38:23","modified_gmt":"2019-12-20T01:38:23","slug":"excellence-in-anglican-schools-project-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicandioceseja.org\/copy\/excellence-in-anglican-schools-project-plans\/","title":{"rendered":"Excellence in Anglican Schools&#8217; Project Plans"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In 2018, following preparatory work that was done, in relation in relation to our Anglican Schools, in particular, our Primary Schools, the Region of Kingston, especially the Deanery of St. Andrew held a workshop on Instructional Leadership and School governance on Monday, July 9 and Tuesday, July 10, 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mission\/Vision Statement for the Project is as follows:<strong><em>\u201d Every child in every Anglican school will receive a high-quality education enabling them to be productive members of society while developing spiritual growth, moral responsibility and service to others\u201d.\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Goals were:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Build\ncapacity in school leaders and teachers to facilitate targeted school\nimprovement based on the results of the most recent National Education\nInspectorate results.<\/li><li>Support\nschool leaders and teachers in extending the mission of the Diocese of Jamaica\nand the Cayman Islands in Anglican Schools. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Schools participating:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cavaliers Primary, Woodford Primary, Clifton Primary, St. Michael\u2019s Primary and Grove Primary.\u00a0 The two-day workshop was conducted by facilitators, Ms Sandra Berry and Mrs Flavia Gordon-Gunter, both educational consultants.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Emphasis was placed on\nthe necessity of a new concept of educational leadership and these included:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Demand for higher achievement <br>Demand for accountability<br>Hence improvement and reform were required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>An integral part of the workshop was to develop <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Share Action Plan \u2013 which would consist of looking at the School Improvement Plan for each school and think about a plan to incorporate the changes that one would like to make and put into practice.\u00a0 Therefore, the three-part process would consist of:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Goal<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li> <strong>Steps to take to achieve<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/li><li><strong>Expected outcomes<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The first school visited was\u00a0 St. Michael\u2019s Primary School, on June 10, 2019.\u00a0 The visiting team comprised of:- \u00a0Mrs. Gloria Gascoigne, Mr. Philip Clarke, Mrs. Dorothy Noel and Rev.
