Policy on the Environment<\/strong>

Background<\/strong>
A policy for the environment is based on Resolution #7, agreed by the 142nd Annual Synod 2012
which states that \u201cthe Bishop should establish a Diocesan Environmental Committee to work
with the churches to formulate policies and guidelines for the use of renewable energy, the
conservation of water, the protection of church environs and the sensitizing of congregations
to our environmental stewardship responsibilities\u201d.
The rationale for the policy on the environment is to achieve the mission of the Diocese as it
relates to the environment, stated in the Five Marks of Mission of the Anglican Communion: \u201cTo
strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and to sustain and renew the life of the Church\u201d.
All aspects of the Mission must be achieved in order to fulfill the vision of the Church.
