New Canon Appointed

The Lord Bishop has announced that the Rev. Garth Minott, Anglican Warden at The United Theological College of The West Indies (UTCWI), has been appointed a Canon of The Cathedral Church, effective October 1, 2016. The Service for his installation will be held at The Cathedral, Spanish Town, on Thursday, September 29, which is observed as the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels.

Rev. Minott, who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology from the University of the West Indies and a Master’s Degree in Theology from McGill University in Canada, was ordained a Deacon in 1992 and a Priest the following year. He served as Assistant Curate at Holy Trinity Church in Westgate, Montego Bay from 1992-1994 before taking up duties as Rector of St. Mark’s Church, Brown’s Town from March 1994 – July 2003. He has been the Warden of Anglican Students at UTCWI since August 2003.

Fr. Minott also serves as the Anglican Chaplain of the University of the West Indies.  In this capacity, he chairs the Anglican Togetherness Group (ATG) which brings together on a voluntary basis the congregations of seven churches in the Liguanea, Mona and Papine area.
He is married to Denise and they are the parents of two sons.
